ABTC was created after the initial association of ten companies supported by the ABCP - Brazilian Association of Cement Portland, aiming to gather companies directly and indirectly involved in the sector of drainage and sanitation in order to discuss relevant and inherent issues from productive process to suitable request support.

ABTC has managed to accomplish plenty of activities such as the internal working statute conception that objectively, organizationally and reliably enables the performance of several actions abiding rules and having judicial support. That way, year after year more and more companies have become interested and then associated.

By developing a huge publishing work about their activities, ABTC has become famous all over the country, notably together with the materials and equipment supplying companies as well as with customers and designer companies from both public and private sectors.

ABTC has managed to improve their products quality on account of their Constant search for developing a sustainable market which contributes with new researches and innovated production methods, and on the matter, along years of work, several tools and innumerous actions have been created, among of them the active participation in ABNT - Brazilian Association of Technical Norms, on the activities that follow:

- Review of all Norms about concrete pipes and elaboration of an only text which gathered 14 existing Norms about the issue, the ABNT NBR 8890 / 2003;

- Creation of ABNT NBR 15396 / 2006 - Pre-fabricated armed concrete staves (cell galleries) - Requisites and trial methods;

- Review of ABNT NBR 8890 / 2003, improving minimum requisites and trial methods, introducing yet an extra option for concrete pipes modulation, which is the steel fiber reinforced pipes, brand new until that moment in Brazil, turning out to be NBR 8890/2007;

- Creation of ABNT NBR 15645 / 2009 - Execution of sanitary sewage and pluvial waters drainage works by making usage of concrete pipes and concrete staves - which rules the execution of works with concrete pipes and staves (cell galleries), with notorious final quality improvement in the system of drainage to the final customer.

- Creation of ABNT NBR 15319 / 2007 - Concrete pipes of circular section for inserting - Requisites and trial methods. Developed by graded technical team, important tools and permitted all the sector programs for structural dimensioning and for mechanical resistance class choice of concrete pipes.

- Technical publications such as books: Concrete pipes in 2004 and the Sanitary Sewage System and Drainage Technical Manual in 2008. It is maintained a permanent program with seminars and technical courses all over the country, through competent and vastly experienced professionals hiring for contact with college students, technicians and customers.
